John King - Guitar - The King Kortette NYC's premiere
blues-flavored New Jazz quartet is the brainchild of downtown guitar-hero
John King. Mr. King is world renowned for his unique style of composed
and improvisational music. Such luminaries as The Kronos Quartet, Merce
Cunningham, The Royal Danish Ballet and The New York City Ballet have
all commissioned Mr. King's work. Mr. King now turns his mix of classical
with the conceptual to the world of the blues creating a hybrid of roots
and avant-jazz. With The King Kortette Mr. King is now able to move
his work from the grand theaters of the world into the smoky realms
of the clubs where the blues thrives.
Jonathan Kane - Drums- Mr. Kane was a founding member of the
seminal noise-rock band The Swans as well as a collaborator with Lamont
Young's Forever Bad Blues Band, Rhys Chatham and Gary Lucas.
Nicki Parrott - Acoustic Bass - Ms. Parrott is the highly acclaimed
bassist for both Les Paul's legendary trio and with The Kitchen's in-house
band The Kitchen House Blend.
Christopher McIntyre - Trombone - Christopher McIntyre leads a multi-faceted career in the contemporary arts as a performer, composer, and independent curator. He's heard on trombone and synthesizer in a variety of settings, both acoustic and live-electronic, most often incorporating improvisation within notation. Current projects include leading TILT Brass Band, 7X7 Trombone Band, and electro-improv group LOTET, and collaborative efforts including composer/performer ensemble Ne(x)tworks and a duo project with Michael J. Schumacher. Upcoming performances of McIntyre's compositional work include full programs at ISSUE Project Room (Oct. 12) and Roulette (Dec. 8).
